DANCES OF MINDANAO

 

Kadayawan Festival also known as The King of Festivals is one of the biggest celebration in Davao City. It provides opportunity for the 18 and more tribes residing in Davao and Mindanao to showcase their dance, art, and music. The most popular event or competition during Kadayawan is the INDAK INDAK SA KADALANAN or DANCE ON THE STREETS where participants perform dances in the streets of Davao City accompanied by the loud music produced by indigenous instruments. Contestants who participates in the competition are schools in Davao and also the neighboring cities and province. In fact, the champions of the recently concluded  INDAK INDAK SA KADALANAN are Bernardo Carpio National High School and  Sindac Anib Performing Ensemble from Bislig, Surigao del Sur.
